Chapter 13 Part 2 - Since I was reborn as Saito Yoshitatsu, I'm aiming to hand over the territory to Oda Nobunaga and live longer!

1536 (Tenbun era, year 5)

In March, when the snow had melted slightly, Asakura Kagetaka came out on his final offensive in the short period of time between rice planting.

As Gunji Ohno [1], he has mobilized his troops, and seemed to be quite serious. Nishi-Mino's [2] allies were made to respond to the movement of Saito Sayu, and the soldiers of Oga could not move to maintain security. As a result, the area around Anama Castle and Itoshiro Castle, which were branch castles of the To clan [3] in Ono County, Echizen Province, fell completely into the hands of the enemy. It is said that the Kokujin [4] near the border with Echizen would be exempted from military service for the time being, as they'll continue to be in a tense state. It's only natural if you want to prevent any betrayal.

[1] Asakura Kagetaka's official court rank was Shikibu taifu (Senior Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Ceremonial), and he was appointed to Gunji Ohno (district official) of Echizen Province.

[2] "Nishi-Mino" is located in the western part of Gifu prefecture, almost in the center of the Japanese archipelago.

[3] The To clan is a Japanese clan and a branch family of the Chiba clan.

[4] The ji-zamurai, also known as kokujin, were lords of smaller rural domains in feudal Japan. They often used their relatively small plots of land for intensive and diversified forms of agriculture; the kokujin sought to be as productive and self-sufficient as possible, hoping to gain wealth and power.
